Renvio - ePrescribing User Guide

User management

RXNT supports user syncing with SCIM-compliant identity providers to handle user creation and deactivation. All users will be created in RXNT with staff-level '0' access, which means they have no chart access. The practice administrator must log in to RXNT to assign location access and complete the setup for providers and staff.

Staff users

From the Location and Staff Management tab, click the User tab and view existing staff users. To edit a user, click their name. A window appears to the right, displaying the user's information under the General tab.

In addition to all Admin Staff capabilities, users with this access level can:

  • Create prescriptions on behalf of a provider
  • Save prescriptions as Pending for provider review and approval

Clinical Staff cannot send prescriptions directly to the pharmacy.

Mid-Level Staff (Level 2: Agent)

Users with this access level have all the capabilities of Admin Staff and Clinical Staff. In addition, they can:

Prescription details

There are two types of provider accounts available. The correct provider account type is chosen during enrollment in the Prescription Details section, according to each provider's state and licensure rules. The customer must select Yes or No to Does this provider require a supervising physician to display on their prescriptions?

  • If Yes: The provider's account will be set to "Doctor (AuthorizationRequired)".
  • If No: The provider’s account will be set to "Doctor (FullyAuthorized)".Screenshot 2026-01-30 143131.png

  • Doctor (AuthorizationRequired)
The provider with this access can send prescriptions under their own credentials, but state regulations or their medical license require that a supervising physician’s name and credentials also appear on the prescription. In this case, they must work under a supervising physician who holds a ‘Doctor (FullyAuthorized)’ designation.”
  • Doctor (FullyAuthorized)
Providers with this access are able to send prescriptions using their own credentials without needing a supervisor. They can also act as a supervising provider for providers with the 'Doctor (AuthorizationRequired)' account type.

Pharmacy requests make it easy for your patient’s pharmacist to ask for prescription changes, renewals, or prior authorizations with just a click. Replying to these requests directly through RXNT helps providers communicate more efficiently with your patients’ preferred pharmacies. Click here to learn more!Screenshot 2026-02-03 154208.png

Writing a prescription

To write a prescription, users launch from Renvio to RXNT. Click Patient from the left-side menu, then select E-Prescription, then E-Prescription again.

You will land on the patient's record in RXNT.

Selecting a medication

To search for a medication, type the drug name into the Write Rx text box above the medication list, then click Search. After searching for the drug, the system will list all medications and strengths that match the search criteria.

If you are unable to locate your medication, especially if it's a new drug, please note that we receive our FDB (Formulary or Medication Database) file on a weekly basis. Currently, we perform manual updates every Thursday morning to ensure the medication is promptly integrated into our system. Users who can wait an additional day to prescribe it will find it readily available. Alternatively, users have the option to add it as a free text medication.

If the PBM is available for the patient, the formulary information will be displayed to the left of the medication. Click here to learn more about the formulary key.

You can also select a medication from your Favorites list. From there, you can simply click on your drug of choice. Click here to learn how to favorite medications!

Once a selection has been made, the system will perform an interaction check.  Interactions will be indicated if applicable. If an interaction is found and a new medication must be selected, use the Alternatives section to select an alternative medication. When needed, the Reference tab will provide further information on the selected medication.

Once you've selected the medication, add your prescription details by choosing from an existing Custom Sig, if applicable, a Recommended Sig, or select Sig Builder to create a new sig.

Prescription edit

Enter the dosage, quantity, and units for the medication. All other fields are optional.

Unit options are determined by NCPDP 2017071 prescription standards as required by 42 CFR 170. Prescription units allowable in NCPDP 2017071 are based on a list compiled by the National Cancer Institute.

Once the script details have been entered, either select Add Drug to add another prescription for the same patient or select Continue to go to the pharmacy search.

Pharmacy search

Search for a pharmacy using any of the search fields listed. Click on the name of the pharmacy to select it.

To add a pharmacy to your favorites, select the box to the right of the pharmacy name and click Add to My Favorite. The system will automatically remember where the script has been sent for the patient, and this will be saved under the Patient Favorite Pharmacies tab.

Once a prescription has been sent, the prescription details is synchronized back to the Renvio system.

Patient dashboard

The patient's current medications and diagnoses recorded in Renvio will be sent to RXNT so that the interaction check can be completed during the prescription writing process.

Only medications that are active in Renvio and have an NDC will be sent to the RXNT current medication list.

Allergies are not included in the integration. Patient allergies must be added directly into RXNT in order to be included in the interaction check.

Current

Only medications that are active in Renvio and have an NDC will be sent to the RXNT current medication list.

The Current tab reflects medications that the patient is currently taking. New prescriptions will be recorded here.

Previous

New prescriptions are also recorded in the Previous tab. The Previous tab contains a list of all medications prescribed in RXNT by your practice. Prescriptions will be listed in chronological order. The blue highlight indicates active medications that the patient is currently taking. Items in white are medications the patient is no longer taking. Prescriptions in gray have been discharged or canceled at the pharmacy. From the Previous tab, you can refill medications that were previously prescribed in RXNT.

PBM /formulary history

RXNT will perform a real-time eligibility check through Surescripts when the patient is selected in RXNT. The patient’s demographics are used to check the master patient index with Surescripts to identify their PBM / Formulary information.  If there is a match on the patient’s demographics, the patient’s pharmacy benefits manager (PBM) will be displayed. If this is your first time accessing a patient’s medication history, you are required to acknowledge that you have the patient’s consent to access the medication history. Click Accept to acknowledge that you agree to the terms and conditions of the HIPAA Patient Consent Agreement.

Once accepted, you will have the ability to review the history for up to the previous year. History can be utilized to manage the Current tab, as well as to generate refills for medications prescribed by other physicians. You can toggle between Claims History and Fill Data. Claims History is sourced from the PBM and Fill Data pulls information from pharmacies.

Voided prescriptions

All voided prescriptions for this patient will be listed within the Voided tab.

Allergies

Allergies are not included in the integration. Patient allergies must be added directly into RXNT in order to be included in the interaction check.

Document allergies or document No Known Drug Allergies in the Allergy tab. When a new prescription is generated in RXNT, the system will perform a real-time drug allergy interaction check based on your entries.

Problems

To include a diagnosis on a prescription, it must first be added to the patient dashboard.

Notes

Click the Notes tab to add a note to the patient's chart. These are internal notes and are not visible to the pharmacy.

PMP/PDMP

To view a patient's PMP/PDMP report, first ensure that the integration for your RXNT account is set up. Click here to learn more about PMP/PDMP Connectivity. Once your integration is complete, all provider accounts with the appropriate role will be able to view the PMP/PDMP scores and reports from the Patient Dashboard.

To see the detailed PMP/PDMP report, click Report.

Pharmacies can be added to the patient’s favorite list outside of the e-prescribing workflow by clicking on the patient’s name and navigating to the Favorite Pharmacies tab.
