Patient population export

A patient population export will export EHI for all patients within your practice. To initiate a patient population export, a practice administrator must navigate to the utility icon in the EHR. Under Patient Management, select Patient Population EHI Exports.

Users without the Practice Administrator role will not have this option in their Utilities.

Click Begin Export.

Due to the volume of data involved in a patient population export, the export will be generated overnight. This could take multiple nights depending on the number of patients in the export. The status will be In Progress as soon as the export is initiated and will progress to Running in Background as the export continues.

Once the export is complete, click the Download button to download the zip file to your computer.

You can only initiate one export within 24 hours.

Data elements

All EHI as defined in 45 CFR 164.501 and 45 CFR 160.103 of the HIPAA Privacy Rule related to the patient as visible in the Patient Dashboard will be exported.

File type details

The .zip file contains .csv files for structured data elements and .pdf files for unstructured data. The structured data includes data on the patient dashboard such as patient demographics, allergies, and problems. The unstructured data includes patient documents, legacy encounters, smart forms, referrals, labs, and faxes.

Structure and syntax

The structured data has a .csv file for each patient dashboard element. The column names match the field names as seen in the patient dashboard. For example, the Allergy Description field in the Allergies tab can be found in the ‘allergy_description’ column of the allergies.csv file.
