Electronic Case Reporting (eCR) submits data for reportable conditions to a case registry.
Should I enable eCR?
Practices encountering the reportable conditions and possible outbreaks listed here are eligible for enabling eCR. Common specialties that use eCR are Pediatrics, Family Medicine, Primary Care, Urgent Care, and some Internal Medicine practices.
Enabling eCR will qualify practices for the Electronic Case Reporting measure under the Public Health and Clinical Data Exchange objective of the MIPS Promoting Interoperability report.
Register intent with Public Health Agencies (PHA)
Use HealthIT.gov’s appendix of state PHA websites to access your state’s website for the practice location(s) where you intend to enable for eCR. Using the information you find, contact the appropriate PHA and register intent to enable eCR.
Your practice will be enabled based on a specific location. If you have locations in multiple states, you will need to register intent in every applicable state.
Sync data with eCR Now FHIR App
After you have registered intent, you will need to begin syncing your data with the eCR Now FHIR App. To do this, log in to the RXNT EHR application under the location you need to enable for eCR. From there, go to the Utilities icon and select Electronic Case Reporting.
On this page, toggle on Enable Electronic Case Reporting.
Once this feature is enabled, all of the current location’s applicable data will sync with the eCR Now FHIR App, which will send the location’s trigger codes to your state PHA. For practices with multiple locations, this step will need to be repeated at every location enabling eCR.
Once you have synced your data, complete the Electronic Case Reporting Request Form by going to https://help.rxnt.com/hc/en-us and clicking Submit a request.
Once our form is submitted, RXNT will work with the APHL Informatics Messaging Services (AIMS) platform to connect your practice to your registry or registries of choice.
This process generally takes between 2-6 weeks.
Testing phase
RXNT’s Customer Success Team will notify you once the connection has been made. You have now entered the initial launch period of your eCR connectivity. Encounters with problems associated with reportable conditions and outbreaks will start being sent to your PHA automatically. This process will be monitored for 2-3 weeks. Once everything is confirmed to be working properly for your location(s), the PHA will approve your practice or location(s) for go-live.
Once you begin sending data, your reportability responses will appear on the Electronic Case Reporting screen in RXNT. A reportability response is a receipt of data gathered from the PHA for each applicable encounter.
