Encounters can only be deleted if no claim is linked to them. If a claim is linked, the encounter must be settled instead.

We'll start with the process for deleting unbilled encounters.

Delete an unbilled encounter

You can access unbilled encounters by navigating to the Patient Dashboard or by clicking the Unbilled Encounters tab in the Alerts section.

From the patient's dashboard

Click on the corresponding Encounter Number

Scroll to the bottom left of the Professional Encounter screen and click Delete

From the unbilled encounters

Click Unbilled Encounters.

Under the Unbilled / Review tab or the Ready to Send tab, click the Encounter Number

Scroll to the bottom left of the Professional Encounter screen and click Delete

If the encounter is parked, navigate to the Parked tab and click the corresponding Encounter Number.

On the Encounter screen, scroll to the bottom left and click Delete.

Settle an encounter

If you don't see a delete button, the encounter cannot be deleted because a claim has been attached. If the encounter and claim were created in error, the encounter can be settled. This can be done by navigating to either the Encounters > Ready to Send tab or the Claim > To Send Electronic tab.

Start by clicking the Encounter Number

Remove the Charge amounts from the line items, then click Save

A pop-up will appear notifying you that some procedure codes have a charge amount $0. Click Yes to proceed.

Click View Claims to Resolve or Cancel the claim. If the claim is resolved, the claim won't be considered in the AR calculation.

Click the Cancel or Resolve Icon.

A pop-up Confirmation will appear. Click Yes, then click Close.

Click Settle Encounter. Another pop-up will appear asking do you want to settle the encounter, click Yes.
