RXNT partners with Nuvei, a trusted third-party payment provider, to give practices a secure and convenient way to offer online payment options to their patients. With this integration, patients can easily pay their bills online using credit cards, debit cards, and other supported electronic payment methods, making it easier to manage payments while helping practices streamline their billing experience.
Setting up Payment Processing
To offer convenient online payment options to your patients, your practice must be enrolled in RXNT’s Payment Processing product. Not enrolled yet? Contact RXNT Customer Success at success@rxnt.com to get started.
Once your practice is enrolled, the RXNT team will guide you through the setup process and connect you with our third-party payment provider, Nuvei. As part of the setup, Nuvei will provide your practice with a unique Merchant ID and Merchant Key. These secure credentials connect your practice to the payment processing service and help ensure that online transactions are securely processed and correctly associated with your practice.
Log in to RXNT Billing and click Utilities.
Click Tools, then select Setup Bill Pay. Enter the Merchant Details including Merchant ID, and Merchant Key.
In the Configurations section, you have to options:
- Display custom note from practice in Patient Bill Pay: Allows your practice to enter a custom message that will be displayed to patients in Patient Bill Pay. Use this option to provide additional information, instructions, reminders, or other messaging that may be helpful to patients when they view or manage their bills.
- Display logo in Patient Bill Pay: Allows your practice to display its logo in Patient Bill Pay. Adding your practice logo provides a more personalized experience and helps patients easily identify your practice when viewing their billing information and making payments.
Click Save. Once the information is saved, the Payment Processing details will appear on your statements and within the Patient Bill Pay, allowing both your staff and patients to easily view and manage payment information.
How patients pay their bills online
Patient statements generated through RXNT include a convenient payment link and QR code, making it easy for patients to access their statement and securely pay their bill online. In this example, the patient accesses Patient Bill Pay from a mobile device.
On the Patient Bill Pay screen, the patient must verify that their Account Number, Date of Birth, and Last Name are correct, then tap Submit to continue.
The patient will be automatically directed to the Patient Bill Pay Secure Checkout screen, where they can review the Practice Details, Patient Details, Account Summary, Balance Payment, and Payment Summary.
All patient date-of-service balances are selected by default.
If the patient only wants to pay a specific date of service, they can deselect any dates they do not want to include in the payment. If the patient wants to make a partial payment toward an outstanding balance, they can enter the desired payment amount in the Pay field.
Credit Card will be selected as the payment method because it is the only available option. If the patient has a credit card on file, it will be selected by default. If the patient has multiple cards on file, the card previously used to process a payment will be selected by default.
If the patient needs to enter a new credit card, they can tap Add New Card and enter the required card details, including the New Card Name, Card Type, Card Number, Expiration Date, Address, and Phone Number.
The Payment Summary section displays the payment amount and any remaining outstanding balance for the patient.
Once the required information has been entered, the patient can tap Submit Payment to securely process the payment.
A Payment Submitted Successfully confirmation displays the Payment Confirmation ID, payment amount and details, along with any remaining balance for the patient.
If the patient would like to email a copy of the receipt, they can tap Email Receipt, enter the email address, and tap Send. A confirmation message will display indicating that the receipt was sent to the email address provided.
Additional information
Reason for credit card decline
A credit card payment may be declined for several reasons, including incorrect card information, insufficient funds, or a billing address that doesn’t match the address on file with the card provider. In the example below, the payment was declined because the patient’s address did not match the billing address associated with the credit card.
If a payment is declined, take the following steps:
-
Confirm and update the billing address.
If the billing address is causing the decline, update the patient’s address to match the address associated with the credit card. You can update the address from the patient’s profile. -
Verify the credit card information.
Confirm that the card number, expiration date, CVV, and cardholder name are entered correctly. If needed, update the card information directly on the payment screen. -
Reattempt the payment.
After correcting the information, try submitting the payment again. -
Use an alternate payment method if necessary.
If the payment continues to be declined, the patient may need to use a different credit card or another available payment method.
Following these steps can help resolve common payment issues and minimize delays in completing the patient’s payment.
