A new date field called Batch Date is available in the professional, institutional and dental encounter screens. This field can be used to record any date-specific metric not currently being captured by the system. For example, this field can be used to record the date charges were received by the practice or the date charges were entered by a medical biller.
Batch date for new encounters:
Create a new encounter (professional, institutional, or dental).
The Batch Date field will be present in the encounter screen. This will display a blank value by default.

The user can enter any date in the Batch Date field.
Default batch date to Today's Date:
Steps to change the default value of the batch date to Today's date.
Click on Utilities on the product dashboard
Click on Company Preferences
Turn ON the setting Default batch date to today's date. This will be turned OFF by default.
Click on Update.
Log off and back into the system.
Now, the batch date will default to "Today's date" when the user creates a new encounter (professional, institutional, or dental).

Locking/unlocking the batch date in the encounters:
Clicking on the green lock icon will lock the batch date. This date will be retained when the user creates a new encounter. This is applicable to all types of encounters.
Clicking on the red lock icon will unlock the batch date field.
Batch date for saved encounters:
The batch date field in a saved encounter will retain the value that was present at the time it was saved. This is applicable to all types of encounters.
- In this example, the professional encounter was previously saved with the batch date 4/26/2020. The batch date will be displayed as 4/26/2020 when its opened again.
Batch date for imported encounters:
If the company preference Default batch date to today's date is turned to ON, then the batch date field in an imported encounter will display the date on which it was released to the billing product. This is applicable to all types of encounters.
- In this example, the professional encounter was released to the billing product on 4/29/2020. Hence, the batch date is displaying the value 4/29/2020.
If the company preference Default batch date to today's date is turned to OFF. The batch date field for an imported encounter will display a blank value.
